  • Parking at the Larkspur Terminal and Overflow lots is available for Larkspur Ferry customers for up to a 24-hour period. Vehicles must be moved after 24 hours or they will be subject to fines and/or towing.
  • All parking spaces are offered on a first-come, first-served basis for both daily and monthly parkers. Monthly permit holders are not guaranteed a parking space.
  • All spaces (including HOV, disabled, and motorcycle) are subject to the parking fee. Motorcycles must park in designated motorcycle stalls only. Parking in the Larkspur Ferry Terminal employee lot is not permitted – unauthorized vehicles will be towed.
  • Any vehicle parked in the Terminal or overflow lot between 5:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. is subject to the parking fee (regardless of what time parking session began).
  • All employer-sponsored parking benefits (for example, WageWorks, Commuter Check, etc.) are accepted. Parking benefits in the form of paper checks or vouchers are accepted only for monthly permit purchases; they are not accepted for daily parking fees. Note: "parking benefits" are different from "transit benefits." Contact your employer for more information.
  • The systems used for daily parking and monthly permits are completely separate.
HOLIDAYS WHEN PARKING FEES DO NOT APPLY: New Year's Day (Jan. 1), Presidents' Day (3rd Monday in Feb.), Memorial Day (4th Monday in May), Independence Day (Jul. 4), Labor Day (1st Monday in Sept.), Thanksgiving Day (4th Thursday in Nov.), and Christmas Day (Dec. 25).

To Pay Daily Parking Fee

Using Parkmobile Mobile Phone App

Step 1 - REGISTER: License plate or stall number and credit card number are required. Users must accept Parkmobile's Terms and Conditions to use the system for daily parking

  • Online. Open a "Basic Membership" at
  • Mobile app. Download the free Parkmobile app from your mobile device's app store. License plate or stall number and credit card number are required. New cars without license plates should use last 4 digits of VIN, preceded by “VIN” in place of license plate number (ie, “VIN1234”). After receiving your license plates, the plate number must be added to your daily parking and/or monthly permit accounts.
  • Phone. Call toll free 877-727-5718. You can open your account using an automated system at no cost or by using a live operator for a one-time fee of $3.50.

Step 2 - PARK and PAY: There are 3 easy ways to start a parking session:

  • Online. Login to your account at
  • Mobile app. Open the mobile app. Note: "time remaining" counts down to 12:59:59pm when a parking fee is no longer required.
  • Phone. Call toll-free 877-727-5718 (available 24/7)

To Purchase a Monthly Permit

Visit the Larkspur Ferry Monthly Permit website to purchase your permit online.

  • Customers must accept Golden Gate Ferry’s Terms and Conditions to purchase a monthly permit.
  • Customers may purchase two monthly permits in advance (current and subsequent months) or may opt to auto renew and/or auto pay their monthly permit. With auto renew, you'll receive an email reminder on the 25th of the month to pay for the next month's permit. With auto pay, you'll automatically be billed on the 25th of the month for the next month's permit.
  • When purchasing a monthly permit for the current month, please be sure to select the current month as the default is always the next month.
  • Monthly permits run for the calendar month. Be sure to select the appropriate month for which you want a permit as the default is always the next month.
  • Customers can register up to five vehicles per permit. One vehicle per permit is valid per day. If you have a new car without license plates, enter the last 4 digits of the VIN, preceded by “VIN” in the license plate field (ie, “VIN1234”). After receiving your license plates, the plate number must be added to your monthly permit account.
  • The system is all electronic - no printing of hardcopy permits or placards is needed.

  • Employer parking benefit payments (for example, WageWorks, Commuter Check, etc.). Note: If your employer provides paper vouchers or checks, they must be submitted via mail to pay for your monthly parking permit. Mail paper voucher(s), along with your name, address, email address, and phone number, to GGBHTD, Attn: Ferry Parking, 850 Tamalpais Ave, San Rafael, CA 94901. To ensure permits are valid at the beginning of a month, vouchers must be postmarked by the 23rd of the preceding month to allow for processing. Note: "parking benefits" are different from "transit benefits."

Payment & Enforcement

The fine for not paying the daily parking fee or having a valid monthly permit is $45.

Alternatives to Single-occupant Driving to the Larkspur Terminal

The following are alternate ways of getting to the Larkspur Ferry Terminal:

  • Ferry Shuttle Routes 25 and 31 are free to Larkspur Ferry passengers. Route 25 operates weekday morning and afternoon/evening commute hours along Sir Francis Drake Blvd between Fairfax/Manor and the Larkspur Terminal; Route 31 operates daily between the San Rafael Transit Center/SMART Station and the Larkspur Terminal.   • Additional bus routes serving the Larkspur Ferry Terminal include Route 24X and Marin Transit. Visit our Bus Schedules page and check timetables carefully since not all trips serve the Ferry Terminal and trips may not be timed to coincide with the Ferry schedules.
  • Bicycles are welcome on board all GGF vessels on a first-come, first-served basis. In addition, the Larkspur Terminal has bike parking for up 140 bikes, including 80 secure bike spaces inside the paid waiting area and 60 bike spaces outside the waiting area.   • Ridesharing matches drivers and riders to share rides and share the cost. It's easy to use. Learn more at 511's RideMatch site.
  • Other rideshare services like Lyft, Lyft Line, and Uber connect drivers with riders, sometimes even connecting a rider with other riders going the same route or to the same location.
  • Carpool spaces at the Larkspur Ferry Terminal are located in Rows F and G and along the inner perimeter lane adjacent to motorcycle parking. A carpool is defined as a driver and at least 1 passenger. These spaces are subject to the parking fee.
